Atlantic Track & Turnout Co. has supplied special trackwork for
various tunnel and mining projects throughout the world for over
seventy years.
We can design, engineer, and supply anything from a basic turnout
to a complete haulage and handling system. We are available for
pre-project planning, on-site engineering, and final installation
advice. All special trackwork is match-marked to drawings for
easy installation.
Atlantic Track can supply either new or used rail and accessories
according to project requirements. Our inventory includes rail
from 20-lbs. per yard to 175-lbs. per yard. In many instances,
we will suggest a combination of quality relay rail and new rail
such as:
1. relay rail in the tunnel
2. new rail in the shaft and car dumping area

The table on the right contains suggested rail weights; however,
this table should only be viewed as a starting point. It is the
conditions specific to each project that will primarily determine
the rail weight.
Our engineering service is available no matter how large or small
the job, and wherever it is located. Atlantic Track will not over
design any system. We do it right the first time, and we deliver
on time.
Atlantic Track takes the worry out of special trackwork. All
of our mine and tunnel trackwork is manufactured according to
American Mining Congress Specifications.
A basic turnout consists of:
(1) complete switch
(2) cast manganese or welded plate frog
(3) either bolted or one-piece guard rails
(4) switch stand
For mine and tunnel work where time is a great consideration,
we recommend the purchase of straight and curved closure rails
in addition to the above. Finally, straight and curved stock rails
complete the turnout.
Atlantic Track offers in-stock shipment of all accessory items
related to the building of railroad track such as spikes, bolts,
lockwashers, tools, push cars, gauge rods, steel ties, clips,
derails, rail punches, rail benders, etc. Specially fabricated
items such as compromise bars and steel ties can normally be delivered
in line with project progress schedules.
