Atlantic Track and Turnout Company
announces purchase of the capital assets of Mid South Rail, Memphis,
TN.
Atlantic Track and Turnout Co. is
expanding its railroad trackwork manufacturing capability by purchasing
the capital assets of Mid-South Rail, located in Memphis, TN.
Jeff Grissom, president of Mid-South Rail, will retain day-to-day
responsibility for the Memphis plant, and will assume new responsibility
as Director of Engineering and Manufacturing for Atlantic Track.
Atlantic Track currently produces
new, special trackwork at its plant in Richmond, Il. The Memphis
plant will add additional manufacturing capability to Atlantic
Track, especially in more highly engineered items such as spring
frogs and crossings, and will offer reconditioned frogs, switches
and other railroad items manufactured in Memphis to the southeastern
USA.
"Atlantic Track intends to grow its
frog and switch manufacturing business" according to Peter Hughes,
President of Atlantic Track. Over the past number of years, Atlantic
Track has acquired and installed equipment necessary to manufacture
track products that are essential to railroads in the USA and
internationally. "We need additional equipment to expand our product
offering", Hughes said, "but even more we needed a leader who
could consolidate and coordinate into a unified plan the capabilities
of all our plants. With more than 25 years of experience in the
engineering and manufacture of railroad trackwork and components,
Jeff is that recognized leader."
Founded in 1924, Atlantic Track is
a manufacturer of new and reconditioned switches and trackwork
components; a manufacturer of new composite third rail and fiberglass
insulators and coverboard; a nation-wide supplier of new and relay
quality rails and OTM; and is a leading supplier of crane rails

and warehousing locations in 10 states and is ISO certified.
