Atlantic Track and Turnout Co.
announces the ground-breaking for a 20,000 sq. ft. addition to
its Richmond, IL trackwork manufacturing facility.
Atlantic Track and Turnout Co. has
taken the next step in the expansion of its trackwork manufacturing
capability with the ground-breaking for a 20,000 sq. ft. addition
to its Richmond, IL trackwork manufacturing facility. The addition
will house new equipment broadening the range of products and
services Atlantic Track offers the railroad industry. In addition,
the expansion provides additional indoor space for turnout panels
and storage. Scheduled completion date is April 1, 2011.
The expansion of the Richmond facility
follows Atlantic Track's August, 2010 purchase of the assets of
Mid-South Rail and Reconditioning, a Memphis based special trackwork
producer.
"Atlantic Track's decision to grow
its frog and switch manufacturing business has been met with huge
acceptance by our customer base", according to Peter Hughes, President
of Atlantic Track.
The expansion at the plant in Illinois
and the acquisition of the plant in Memphis further establishes
Atlantic Track as a trackwork manufacturer, capable of delivering
material according to varied customer specifications.
Founded in 1924, Atlantic Track manufactures
and supplies new and reconditioned switches and trackwork components;
composite third rail; fiberglass insulators and coverboard; new
and relay quality rails and OTM; and is a leading supplier of
crane rails and accessories.
Atlantic Track has sales, production
and warehousing locations in 10 states and is ISO certified.
Atlantic Track is a 50/50 partner
in MRT Track and Services Co. Inc. with ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik,
Essen, Germany. The joint venture company brings European designs
and products for Transit authorities into the American market.
